Soetjipto Soentoro was an Indonesian footballer. He was born and raised in Soentoro Djajasapoetra's family, who liked playing football. His brothers were Soegijo and Soegito, who played at Persija Jakarta between 1952 and 1964.
Before he joined a football club, Soetjipto played football as a teenager in the streets in the area of Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta in 1954. Subsequently, he was transformed into one of the great players in the history of football to the level Asia Indonesia.
His luck changed after joining the IPPI Kebayoran. He became known publicly when defending for Setia Jakarta. Persebaya at the time was a great team in Indonesia, in addition to Andjek AN and Junaedi Abdillah. Soentoro made Persija become an unbeatable team in one season. He became a top scorer of Perserikatan with 16 goals. After that, he became a phenomenal player in Asia.
At the National Tournament of PSSI in 1965, he just could bring his team until at semifinal. At the group stage of the West Zone, Persija placed third. Soentoro scored 2 goals. At 11 August 1965, he scored one goal when against Persebaya in the 1st leg, but lost in the 2nd leg to Persebaya Surabaya 4â€"2, with the aggregate score 4â€"3 for Persebaya.
In the 1966 season, his team didn't play as well at the National Tournament of PSSI. At Group Stage of West Zone, his team decreased to being ranked fourth. He scored three goals from his five appearances. He scored when his team played against Persib, PSP, and PSB.
The 1967 season was lucky for Persija. Their rank had increased at three at West Zone. Persija joined with PSDS, PSMS, Persib, PSB, and PSIM. He scored five goals from his five appearances. His goals were made during games against PSDS Deli Serdang, PSIM (one goal), Persib (one goal), and PSMS (one goal).
In the age of 16 years has strengthened Persija to Europe and join Pelatnas PSSI Junior for the Junior Asia Cup 1959.
In the Junior Asia Cup, Soetjipto Soentoro became the top scorer with 14 goals. His goals is generated when the National Team Indonesia shave Taiwan 14â€"0 and Japan 13â€"1. Although in the end Indonesia into 3rd place after falling by Burma in the semifinals and finally become champions. Action in Junior Asia Cup player led him to become a reliable and promoted to the senior team.
In 1965, the PSSI trip to Europe. National team were manager by Maulwi Saelan took them against two powerful European clubs, Feyenoord, the Netherlands and SV Werder Bremen, Germany.

Soetjipto started his debut in international tournament at 1966 Asian Games in Tokyo. That year, Indonesia joined with Singapore, South Vietnam, and Republic of China in Group C. Indonesia just 2 times won and draw 1 times. He just made two goal against Republic of China and Singapore. Finally Indonesia went to quarter final. Indonesia join with Iran and Burma. But he and friend must stopped in here after draw against Iran 2â€"2 and lost against Burma 1â€"3.
In this tournament, Indonesia entered their junior and senior team. His goals was made when Indonesia defeated Pakistan Railways, Karachi Port Trust, and Iran XI. Finally he could brang his country became the champion after in final won 2â€"1 against Mohammedan SC. Indonesian goals at that time was made by Soentoro and Aliandoe.
Soetjipto performed brilliantly with the national team when the team appeared in the 1968 Merdeka Tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the tournament he managed to make the national team won the games. But the only team to struggle in the semi-finals. And finally the national team was ranked only 4th after losing the race for the 3rd party from Australia with a score of 1â€"0. At that time, he scored 4 goals and also made his hat trick when the national team in the 1st game won a landslide victory over the Japanese B with a score of 7â€"0. He also bought up 5 goals in the final game when it managed to shave the Republic of China with a score of 11â€"1 which was held on 18 August 1968 at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. This is the biggest lost for Taiwan in the history and for Indonesia, this is the 1st they had the biggest won in the history before that record can broken when Indonesia could won 12â€"0 against Philippines.
His debut at Kings Cup, he also could brang his country became the champion for the 1st time in this tournament. In this tournament, Indonesia became the unbeatable team. In allocation group match won against Malaysia 1â€"0. Finally Indonesia joined in Group 2 with Singapore and Burma. He made two goals against Burma before Indonesia added the score by Jacob Sihasale's hard header. At the match against Singapore, he made one goal and made the final result was 7â€"1. In the semi final, Indonesia beat their biggest rival, Malaysia and that result saw Indonesia go into the final. That time, Indonesia defeated Burma 1â€"0 although Burma dominated the game. One of the goal was made by the captain of PSSI, Soetjipto Soentoro.
After for the long time Indonesia never won in this tournament since 1962, Soentoro could bring his team became the champion for the 3rd title. This time, Indonesia joined in Group A with Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand. He scored the 1st goal in this tournament when Indonesia against South Korea. He scored the opened goal and his goal was inspiring his friend. Finally he could win 3â€"0. He also brang eight goal against Singapore and made final result 9â€"2 for Indonesia in the semifinal. In the final he scored the 2nd goal for Indonesia before Indonesia added the score 3â€"2. This goal was made him became the top scorers of 1969 Merdeka Tournament.
