Kristiani Herawati (born 6 July 1952) is the wife of current Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady of Indonesia since 2004.
Kristiani Herawati was born on July 6, 1952 in Yogyakarta, to Lieutenant-General Sarwo Edhie Wibowo and Hj. Sri Sunarti Hadiyah.
In 1973, she became a medical student at the Christian University of Indonesia, but in the 3rd year she quit to marry Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 1976. Ani later continued studying at the Merdeka University in the city of Malang and graduated with Bachelor degree in Political Science in 1998.
Her political activities include her 2004 appointment as Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party. She campaigned for the election of her husband for President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Following her husband's election to the presidency, organised polio immunisation campaigns and Mobil Pintar, where vans are filled with books for children to read. When the earthquake and tsunami hit Aceh and Nias, she assisted in relief efforts.
In 2007, a rare Papuan butterfly species was named after her. She was presented with a specimen of the butterfly Delias kristianiae which she donated to the museum.
