Persita Tangerang, or simply Persita, officially the Persatuan Sepak Bola Indonesia Tangerang, are an Indonesian football club based in Tangerang, Indonesia. By finishing as runners-up in the 2011-12 Liga Indonesia Premier Division season, they were promoted to the 2012รข€"13 Indonesia Super League.
Persita was 1st formed in the city of Tangerang on 19 April 1940. It only became an official club on 15 September 1945 before it was approved by and admitted into the PSSI on 9 September 1953. The 1st kit Persita used in its early days was a red strip with white shorts and white socks and was only changed when Urip Hermansyah took over the club and replaced the red strips with purple ones.
The "Hari Ulang Tahun Pendekar Cisadane" is celebrated every year on 9 September with the aim of remembering the day that Persita was officially recognised by the PSSI.
The team is nicknamed the Cisadane Warriors. They are also known as the Viola Army due to the violet kit which they play their home games in.In December 23, 2001 was born the Persita groups of supporters who called themselves Laskar Benteng Viola (LBV). as time goes, formed a new supporters group called Viola Xtrim Persita in 2005.
